Except light drizzle at a few places, the entire state remained dry. On Monday, the state received 69% less rainfall than normal.
If we look at the rainfall figures from June 1 to August 7, till now the rainfall has been 40% more than normal, although it was up to 58% a few days ago. Hisar, Jind and Fatehabad haven't even received normal rainfall.
According to Dr. Madan Khichad, President, Department of Agricultural Meteorology, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, there is a possibility of scattered drizzle in the state for two days.
Light rain may occur at isolated places in Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal till August 9.
Highest rainfall in Kurukshetra, lowest in Hisar
Looking at the rainfall received in the current monsoon season, the state has received 340 mm of rain so far against the normal of 243 mm. This is 40 percent more than normal.
On Monday, the average rainfall was only 1.5 mm against the normal of 4.8 mm, which was 69 per cent less than normal. Hisar has so far received 118 mm of rain against the normal 180.4 mm, which is 35 percent less.
Hisar has received the least rainfall. Kurukshetra has received maximum rainfall of 690.3 mm in the state, which is 193 percent more than normal.
Less rain in 3 districts
In Haryana, the rainfall figures in 3 districts of Hisar, Jind, Fatehabad are in minus. While there has been 35 percent less rainfall in Hisar since June 1, there is 18 percent less rainfall in Jind.
It has received 187.6 mm of rain against the normal rainfall of 228.1 mm. Similarly, Fatehabad has received 132.6 mm of rain against the normal of 156.1 mm, which is 15 percent less. Rainfall in Rohtak, Bhiwani and Palwal is near normal.
3 districts with high rainfall
If we look at the 3 districts with maximum rainfall in the current monsoon season in Haryana, they are ahead in the state with 193% more rains in Kurukshetra, 95% in Panipat and 88% in Sonipat.
Apart from this, 6 more districts of Faridabad, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Nuh, Mahendragarh, Panchkula have received 50 percent more rainfall than normal.
No rain expected for 2 days
Weather experts believe that till August 9, there is no possibility of much rain in the state. The western end of the Akshay Line of Monsoon Turf has now moved northwards from its normal position and towards the Himalayan foothills.
Due to this, there has been a reduction in rain activities over the state of Haryana. Till August 9, the weather will generally remain changeable. There is a possibility of partial cloudiness in between.
Under the influence of moisture laden winds, isolated light rain may occur over the northern districts of the state. There is a possibility of scattered drizzle at a few places in many other districts. There is a possibility of a slight increase in the day temperature in the state.
