Agro Haryana, New Delhi Railway Land Leasing Plan: If you are asked who has the largest land bank in the country, then you might get entangled in this question. But let us tell you that Indian Railways has the largest number of lands in the country. 

Now preparations are being made by the Railways to give these lands on lease. The income generated from this will be spent for the development of railway infrastructure. 

For this, 341.93 hectares of land has been identified across the country by Indian Railways . The land will be given to private developers by the Railways. Railways is expected to get Rs 5000 crore for this.

Plan to lease 110.46 hectares of land

Railways has registered a marginal surplus of Rs 2,210 crore in the year 2023-24. Actually, Railways is planning to lease 110.46 hectares of land at other places in Mumbai including Grant Road, Tardeo, Parel, Bandra East and West, Carnac Bunder. 

Apart from this, 58.93 hectares of land near Chanakyapuri, Lodhi Colony, Sarojini Nagar and New Delhi Railway Station in Delhi is expected to be handed over to private developers. Similarly, land will be identified for giving on lease in Bengaluru, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Amritsar, Gwalior, Lucknow and Kanpur.

RLDA submitted report to the ministry.

Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a nodal railway organization to commercially monetize railway land. According to the news published in Hindustan Times, it was told by RLDA that Railways has 43,000 hectares of vacant land. 

RLDA has submitted the power point presentation related to this land to the Railway Ministry. The presentation has been listed with the name 'Opportunities in RLDA'.

The money will be spent on these works.

According to HT, a senior official associated with the project said that the income from leasing the land will be spent on public amenities like making new coaches, construction of railway station etc. 

The plan presented by RLDA is the initial step of a long term project. With the money thus received, apart from purchasing Vande Bharat trains, work will also be done to lay new tracks.

Let us tell you that 19.22 hectares of railway land has already been transferred in Mahim, Matunga and Dadar on a 99-year lease at a cost of Rs 23,000 crore for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) in Mumbai. 

Adani-led Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) Private Limited has also paid the first installment of Rs 1,000 crore out of the total Rs 2,800 crore to be paid to the Railways for this land.
